The Challenge
To meet the organization’s fourth-quarter goals, the Sierra Club’s Director of Risk Management and Planning needed to complete an organizational audit and submit steering committee reports to the executive management team. Both tasks were essential for laying the groundwork for future strategic decisions and integral to the organization’s timetable.
The undertaking required an urgent need to establish a new team and a project manager who could lead the initiative. However, hiring and onboarding a trusted project manager in such a brief time was a complex undertaking.
Securing the right candidate required time and human resources, which were not immediately available to the organization. With the clock ticking, short-term consultancy services emerged as the ideal solution for the Sierra Club.

The Solution – Project Management Augmentation
Pivotal Allies carried out a comprehensive 360-degree audit of Sierra Club’s systems and processes, which included a holistic evaluation of their existing operational framework. The audit integrated insights from over 25 directors and managers covering reviews of cybersecurity risks, governance of data relations, policy management, organizational tools, hiring processes, and critical operational procedures.
After completing the audit, the team delivered a suite of strategic solutions that will help the organization become more agile, proactively identify risks, and gain increased flexibility to pivot quickly and effectively. To bring the plan to life, we led their initiative to hire a senior project manager who could execute the strategy.
Our end-to-end solution included complete oversight of the entire hiring process, from reviewing resumes and outlining an attractive but competitive salary range, to developing a comprehensive confluence board that could handle the high influx of interviews.
